Pierre-Narcisse Guérin
18th-19th century
(Paris, 1774 - 1833, Rome)

Guérin’s significance in the history of art is attributed to his role in the transition from neoclassicism to romanticism. Both Eugène Delacroix and Théodore Géricault, proponents of the romantic style and of nature as a source of artistic inspiration, were his students.
