Cherubino Alberti and his brothers Giovanni and Durante comprised an important workshop specializing in illusionistic fresco decoration. Trained by Cornelis Cort, Alberti was also the most accomplished and prolific engraver of the time in Rome. His principal activity involved reproductions of the most celebrated works of Raphael, Michelangelo, Polidoro da Caravaggio, and Federico Zuccaro.
