Reginald Marsh
20th century
(Paris, France, 1898 - 1954, Dorset, Vermont)

Born 1898, Paris; active 1920–25, New York; 1925–26, Europe; 1927–54, New York (with trip in 1929 to Europe); died 1954, Dorset, VT. Marsh studied under Kenneth Hays Miller at the Arts Students’ League during the years 1927-28, and like Miller, Marsh was enamored with recording contemporary, urban America. His paintings do not critique city life; they celebrate it, offering a dream world of bums, shoppers, business men, night dancers, and tawdry Coney Island tourists.
