Moved to Saint Louis in 1952. Moved to México in 1960. Moved to New York, New York and Pelham, Massachusetts in 1962. Moved to México D.F. in 1965. Moved to Amherst in 1970. From a text in the file: “During the years he spent in Mexico, Gongora belonged to a group known as the “Nueva Presencia”, popularly referred to as “Los Interioristas”. The artists turned, in a form of revolt, from abstract formalism and social realism practiced in Mexico, to a fantastic figuration. Gongora’s fantastic figuration is most commonly populated with females in scenes of sexual implication”.
