Elisabetta Sirani
17th-century Bolognese
(Bologna, 1638 - 1665, Bologna)
Sirani was one of the few women painters and the most important woman printmaker of the 17th century. In its measured construction and idealized types, her style depended largely on Guido Reni. Her etchings too followed Reni’s regular line work, uniform biting, and even tone.
