This print is from a series of twelve engravings by different printmakers after Rubens' drawings of antique marble sculptures. The Bust of Emperor Nero is after a pen drawing by Rubens in the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, Mass. Rubens' drawing and Pontius' print are after an unidentified marble sculpure that was part of Rubens' antiquities collection acquired after Sir Dudley Carleton in 1618.
