Like his contemporary Sebastián Gordín, Harte builds elaborate miniature models. He houses desiccated bugs and human/insect hybrid figurines within transparent industrial containers filled with organic materials, such as resin and eggshells. The light and glass globes of the The Intruder recall an old-fashioned scientific specimen display. Harte upends the work’s clinical appearance by setting violent scenes populated by bizarre characters within the spheres; each one suggests a story infused with whimsy, dark humor, and satire.
