Galle is a member of a printmaking dynasty. Son of Philip Galle and brother to Cornelis, the trio were prominent engravers, publishers and dealers in Antwerp. Cornelis and his son engraved a number of portraits in the Iconography. The family’s publishing business thrived for three generations.
