The subtle and sensitive use of paint in Corujeira’s work draws attention to the surface and to the trace of the artist’s hand. The simplicity and minimalism of the composition do not generate a hard-edged mathematical and rational experience. Instead we see each individual brushstroke and hesitation, drawing attention to the uncertainty and fragility of the human experience.
