This double portrait features Rubens and his pupil Anthony van Dyck, who went on to achieve comparable fame and success to Rubens’s. Van Dyck employed the same team of reproductive engravers, including Schelte Adams Bolswert and Paulus Pontius, to interpret many of his painted compositions.
