During the 1580s both Agostino and Annibale Carracci traveled regularly to Venice. As part of their reckoning with of the school’s painting, Agostino engraved numerous works after Veronese and Tintoretto––no less advanced or significant than Cort’s works after Titian a generation earlier. This engraving, of a painting extant in the Hermitage, is one of six after Veronese that he created in the same year.
