Anderson exploits two very different techniques in this print. The center of the image done with crayon on stone is similar to a graphite pencil drawing, recalling the work of earlier artists such as Bolton Brown. In the border, done on a separate stone, Anderson shows his mastery of wash. The grease, suspended in a fine wash, dried and created little ripples, like veins, or tide lines.
