Parmigianino’s proposition of etching as an extension of drawing took root in contemporary Verona. Angolo del Moro was the first and finest of the city’s distinctive school of etchers. This early work was inspired not just by Parmigianino’s approach to technique, but by one of his compositions, a drawing that is today in the Louvre.
