The Holy House of Loreto was another popular pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. It was commonly believed that the Holy House was where the Virgin Mary lived and raised Jesus. Originally situated in Nazareth, it is purported that angels moved the house multiple times to safer ground when it was threatened by war or theft.
