There survives at least one other drawing from the series. Their subjects, lunette format and monumental conception, suggest that they were pre-paratory for the fresco decoration of a Genoese palace. Although no such cycle by Castello is known, Lazzaro Tavarone did execute one in the Palazzo Cattaneo-Adorno in 1624. Castello’s drawings could well have served as models in a competition for that project.", "Dedication" : "Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin, The Suida-Manning Collection, 2017", "Copyright_Type" : "Public domain", "Disp_Obj_Type" : "drawing", "Creation_Place2" : "Italian", "Department" : "Prints and Drawings", "Obj_Name" : "", "Period" : "", "Style" : "", "Edition" : "", "Curator" : "", "Images": [ { "ImagePath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/images/2017.1010.tif", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/Thumbnails/2017.1010.tif", "PreviewPath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/Previews/2017.1010.tif", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/2017.1010.tif", "IsPrimary" : "1", "_SurrogateID" : "5840", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "", "View" : "" } , ] },{ "embark_ID" : 15915, "URL" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Objects-1/info/15915", "Disp_Access_No" : "2017.1009", "_AccNumSort1" : "", "Disp_Create_DT" : "", "_Disp_Start_Dat" : "0", "_Disp_End_Date" : "0", "Disp_Title" : "A Man Whispering to a Lady", "Alt_Title" : "", "Obj_Title" : "A Man Whispering to a Lady", "Series_Title" : "", "Disp_Maker_1" : "Bernardo Castello", "Sort_Artist" : "Castello, Bernardo", "Disp_Dimen" : "15.24 cm x 14.29 cm (6 in. x 5 5/8 in.)", "Disp_Height" : "15.24 cm", "Disp_Width" : "14.29 cm", "Dimen_Extent" : "Sheet", "Medium" : "Black chalk, pen and brown ink, brown wash", "Support" : "", "Disp_Medium" : "Black chalk, pen and brown ink, brown wash", "Info_Page_Comm" : "", "Dedication" : "Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin, The Suida-Manning Collection, 2017", "Copyright_Type" : "Public domain", "Disp_Obj_Type" : "drawing", "Creation_Place2" : "Italian", "Department" : "Prints and Drawings", "Obj_Name" : "", "Period" : "", "Style" : "", "Edition" : "", "Curator" : "", "Images": [ { "ImagePath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/images/2017.1009.tif", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/Thumbnails/2017.1009.tif", "PreviewPath" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Media/Previews/2017.1009.tif", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/2017.1009.tif", "IsPrimary" : "1", "_SurrogateID" : "5686", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "", "View" : "" } , ] },{ "embark_ID" : 15952, "URL" : "https://webkiosk.gallerysystems.com/Objects-1/info/15952", "Disp_Access_No" : "2017.1012", "_AccNumSort1" : "", "Disp_Create_DT" : "1580s", "_Disp_Start_Dat" : "1580", "_Disp_End_Date" : "1580", "Disp_Title" : "The Madonna and Child with Saint John and Another Saint", "Alt_Title" : "", "Obj_Title" : "The Madonna and Child with Saint John and Another Saint", "Series_Title" : "", "Disp_Maker_1" : "Bernardo Castello", "Sort_Artist" : "Castello, Bernardo", "Disp_Dimen" : "17.78 cm x 13.97 cm (7 in. x 5 1/2 in.)", "Disp_Height" : "17.78 cm", "Disp_Width" : "13.97 cm", "Dimen_Extent" : "Sheet", "Medium" : "Pen and brown ink with brush and brown wash", "Support" : "", "Disp_Medium" : "Pen and brown ink with brush and brown wash", "Info_Page_Comm" : "Castello was trained by one of Luca Cambiaso's few competitors, Andrea Semino, but then influenced by Cambiaso during the first part of his career.
